Aug 28, 2017  My iMac is too heavy to lug to my neighborhood Apple Store. Perhaps someone can tell me how to fix this. Any folder, photo, document I place on my desktop can't be moved around. Instead when I try to move it, it bounces back into place. I can guide into the trash if I click and drag it, but otherwise, all icons bounce back into place. Oct 03, 2014  What I am trying to do is move an open app from one desktop to the other. I tried different thing none work. Clicking the app on the taskbar switch you the original desktop the app was open on. Click and drag to the task bar hoping that the multi desktop is going to pop so one can drop the app in there does not work either. Thanks for the reply. I don´t intend to move applications to an external drive. My iMac has both the SSD and “traditional” HDD. So, really I will be moving applications from one location on the computer to another. May 02, 2017  Most applications migrated from one Mac to another work just the way they did before: even your custom settings should make it over. Any applications you bought or downloaded from the Mac App Store will work, though you may need to enter your Apple ID again the first time you launch them. With macOS, you can set up your Mac with separate user accounts. That way, multiple people can use one computer, but the files, app settings, and other data for each user are kept separate from.

On Windows 10, Microsoft is introducing the concept of virtual desktops. This feature has been around in other operating systems for a long while, even Windows XP had the Virtual Desktop Manager PowerToy utility, but the software giant is now bringing the feature to its new operating system.

Microsoft calls the feature Virtual Desktop by opening the Task View with the button located on the Taskbar (or using the Windows + Tab keyboard shortcut). The feature allows users to create different “virtual desktops” to run different sets of applications on separate desktops to keep things organized and not too clutter.

In this Windows 10 guide, you’ll learn two ways in which you can move apps between virtual desktops.

How to move apps between virtual desktops on Windows 10

To move an app to a new desktop, do the following:

Move Apps To Desktop Surface

  1. Click the Task View button on the taskbar. (You can also use Windows key + Tab keyboard shortcut.)

  2. If you’re running a single desktop, click the (+) button at the bottom of the screen to create a new virtual desktop. Right-click the app you want move, select Move to, and select the desktop you want to move the app.

Note that you can also select New desktop, which will create a new virtual desktop for the app you want.

Alternatively, inside Task View, you can simply click and drag the app to another desktop, or to the New desktop button, which will automatically create a new desktop for the app.

I'm not able to drag application windows from one desktop to the next by just moving it to the edge of the screen.

You should be able to do that. Drag the window until your cursor reaches the edge of the screen, hold for about a second, then the window should move into the adjacent Desktop.

How do I move open application windows from one Mission Control desktop to the next??

Open Mission Control and drag a window from the Desktop (or, Space) you're working in onto the Desktop of your choice in the row at the top of the screen. If you want to move a window from a Desktop other than the one you're working in, you have to go to that window's Desktop to move it.
